EVGA shows X299 Dark motherboard

Soon available

EVGA today introduces the X299 Dark, a motherboard that belongs to the high-end series and it's recommended for Core i9 processors like i9-7980XE and i9-7960X CPUs. Since Intel X299 motherboards are available since a while, we believe that EVGA is a bit late to the party with this model.

The X299 Dark is based on an ATX form factor, yet this time EVGA is using all the space available on the PCB. The X299 Dark also comes with RGB backlight underneath each heat sink and there are steel reinforcements on the PCIe slots. In general the layout is quite simple and therefore it has also been equipped with four full-sized PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. Since this motherboard is designed for overclockers, there are only four DIMM slots and several overclock features.

Storage wise, there are eight angled SATA-III and two U.2 ports. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. Both M.2 slots are placed in the middle of the motherboard hidden under the a big heatsink and are compatible with 2280 units.

EVGA equips the X299 Dark with one PS/2 port, one USB 3.1 Type-C port, one USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A port and six USB 3.0 ports. Furthermore there are two Gigabit Ethernet ports, WiFi module and the analogue audio panel with optical out. At a first glance this is certainly a good looking motherboard.
