Almost one year ago, Windows 10 officially surpassed Windows 7 in the Europe. Now a few months later, the latest operating system from Microsoft has managed to surpass Windows 7 worldwide. In other words, the most popular OS is now Windows 10.

According to the data specialists at StatCounter, Windows 10 managed to hit 42.78 percent market share in January 2018. During the same period, Windows 7 managed to hit 41.86 percent market share. This took a while, however if we check closely we see interesting results across the Europe. For example the gap in Italy is almost 15%, in Germany is about 16% and in France is close to 20%.

Meanwhile Windows 8.1 continues to remain unpopular at 8 percent. There are still some people around the globe that are using the out dated Windows XP. This operating system is still holding 3.36 percent market share. Windows 10 has been on a good rise during the last year, and Windows 7 has slowly been declining. While Windows 7 has lost 5% during the last 12 months, Windows 10 has gained over than 10%.
