ASUS announces HC102 Windows Mixed Reality headset

ASUS revealed its headset based on the Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) VR platform with the HC102 headset. The HC102 WMR headset is designed for easy setup with a focus on ergonomics and comfort. At the moment the HC102 is compatible with over 20'000 Windows apps and more than 2'000 Steam VR games.



The HC102 uses a single 2880 x 1440 display that refreshes at up to 90Hz. ASUS is the first adopter of this kind of panel which provide a 105° field of view. In order to connect the HC102 WMR headset to your system, you have to plug one HDMI 2.0 and one USB 3.0 cables. The two included motion controllers use Bluetooth connection. The HC102 doesn't include headphones, but there is a 3.5-mm jack on the headset.

On the front of the HC102 there are two small cameras that work together with gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor to provide full 3D motion tracking. Thanks to all this sensors, the HC102 doesn't need any external motion sensors. The HC102 weighs around 400g and according to ASUS, the headband puts the weight on your forehead and not only on your nose.
