Intel launches new 8th Gen Coffee Lake mobile processors

Featuring six-core CPUs

Intel has officially unveiled its first six-core Coffee Lake processors for laptops. With the new series of processors, Intel brings Core i9, Core i7 and Xeon chips to laptops, featuring six cores for the first time on an Intel mobile platform.

The entire new series of Coffee Lake-H processors support dual-channel DDR4-2666 memory and the Xeon chips are also compatible with ECC memory. According some rumors, Intel is also pushing on Optane Memory support to laptops now, allowing laptop makers to install Optane Memory with a secondary drive for speedy caching.

During the last weeks we have published several leaks about the Core i9-8950HK CPU. This model is going to be the fastest mobile chip ever made from Intel. According to the specifications, the maximum Turbo Boost is set to 4.80GHz. The frequency is rather high and this is possible due to "Intel Velocity Boost", which will boost frequencies higher depending on thermal headroom. With the right cooler, we expect to see a frequency close to 5GHz.

On following you can find the specifications of the new seven models.
