ASUS officially announces AREZ sub-brand

New identity for AMD cards

If you have been following the rumour mill you might have heard of this new ASUS sub-brand. According to some people, this sub-brand has been introduced in order to bypass the conditions of the NVIDIA GeForce Partner Program.

ASUS looks very positive about this upcoming sub-brand, the company has forged a new identity for its graphics cards based on AMD chips. ASUS claims that the sub-brand AREZ "underlines the strong working partnership between ASUS and AMD". Although the partnership looks solid, it's a bit weaker than the other sealed with NVIDIA since it has effectively buckled under NGPP pressure.

The name "AREZ" comes from the Greek god of war (ARES) and it will continue to boast cutting-edge hardware features including Auto-Extreme Technology, Super Alloy Power II, MaxContact, Wing-Blade IP5X-certified fans, and FanConnect II. On the software side, nothing has changed. ASUS still offers GPU Tweak II and AMD Radeon Adrenalin Edition Software.

The new AREZ lineup will be available somewhen during next month. ASUS has already updated its site and packages as well. Anyway, we might expect similar sub-brands from other companies too since AMD might add a sort of "GPP" too. A few hours ago, we have received an email from AMD that claims "over the coming weeks, you can expect to see more add-in board partners launch new brands carrying the AMD Radeon name". We will definetely keep an eye on it.
