AMD Ryzen 7 2700X at 6 GHz

New record from der8auer

We have covered der8auer breaking records in the past and apparently the German overclocker Roman Hartung did it again. This time he has pushed a new AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU to 6 GHz using an ASUS Crosshair VII Hero motherboard and liquid nitrogen cooling. This overclock was achieved with a bus speed of 100.16 MHz and a multiplier of 59.75.

As we mentioned before, the system was based on an ASUS Crosshair VII Hero motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X CPU, which was pushed to 6 GHz. Aside of that there was G.Skill DDR4 memory set to work at DDR4-3800 using CL11 timings. Since AMD's Ryzen CPUs have been available for a while, we expect to see even even higher clock speeds from other overclockers soon. In addition the motherboard's BIOS might still not be completely ready for extreme overclocking and during the upcoming weeks we will see several updates from manufacturers.

This is “only” a CPU frequency score but still all cores and threads were enabled. In addition der8auer also ran Cinebench and Geekbench with a clock frequency set to 5.6 GHz. The Ryzen 7 2700X appears to be a very promising CPU especially since the price is about 300 Euro on Geizhals.
