HyperX unveils RGB DDR4 memory

With infrared sensors

During the PAX 2018, Kingston has shown a plethora of gaming products, including HyperX headsets and peripherals. Furthermore, the company has unveiled in a shadowy open chassis a pair of RGB LED memory modules with HyperX logo. The company said that kits would start hitting shelves in the second quarter of this year, however they look already available on Amazon.

Although this might sound a bit surprising, HyperX has never shown RGB memory kits before. This kit might be the first LED-lit DDR4 product from Kingston. HyperX has revealed that the RGB LED memory lighting effects will be compatible with major motherboard OEM vendors like ASUS AURA, MSI Mystic Light and few more. Furthermore the kit comes with infrared sensors that detect the other module's lighting. In this way, all the modules can sync each other without any issue.

At the moment the company is selling only one module with 8GB capacity, DDR4-2933 speed and CL15 timings. Buyers can pick up these DDR4 modules in single, dual or quad channel. The required voltage of 1.35V is a bit higher than the official DDR4 specification of 1.2V, probably due the several LEDs installed on the stick.

Only two kits have shown up on Amazon so far: the first one comes with 16GB capacity and costs $246, while the second sports four sticks with 32GB capacity in total and it's set for $492. The manufacturer backs the Predator DDR4 RGB memory with a lifetime warranty.
