Most notebook vendors have announced their updated notebooks, which are based around Intels 8th generation Core processors quite a while ago, yet Apple, as always, decided to take its time. To a certain extent this makes/made sense since the availability of the new platform was sparse - to say the least.

Ok then, what has the Cuppertino division come up with then? Well - who would have guessed - there is a 13-inch as well as a 15-inch version again. Both of them feature Apple's Touch Bar, which was introduced with the last generation, up to 32GB of RAM, an improved keyboard and Radeon Pro graphics. Apart from that there is a Thunderbolt 3 interface, which would allow you to hook up, up to four external GPUs if you do wish so and have the funds.

15-inch MacBook Pro

The bigger of the two MacBook Pro comes with hexacore Intel Core i9 or i7 processors, whereas the base clock is up to 2.9 GHz and the boost clock can go up to 4.8 GHz. Furthermore the units can be configured with up to 32GB of memory, up to 4TB of SSD storage and discrete Radeon Pro graphics with 4GB of VRAM.

13-inch MacBook Pro

The smaller offering is going to be available with either Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, while the base clock reaches up to 2.7 GHz and the boost clock tops out at 4.5 GHz. In the graphics department the integrated Intel Iris Plus 655 solution is taking care in conjunction with 128MB of eDRAM and SSD can hold up to 2TB of data.

In terms of pricing the 13-inch models will start at $1799 US and the 15-inch units will sell for at least $2399 US. If you've been waiting for Apple to finally release their refreshed model, then you'll be happy to read that later this week the new models are going to be available at your local Apple retail store or Apple Authorized Reseller.

Foot note: funny though that yesterday I received my new Dell XPS 15, retiring my MacBook Pro which is is now seven years of age and has served me well. It looks like I'm fully back in the Windows world again, note just with my massive watercooled gaming desktop but also in the shape of a Notebook.
