Fully programmable audio engine for certain GPUs

During its GPU 14 event held at the volcanic island of Hawaii, AMD has unveiled a second out of four "pilllars" that the new lineup is based on, the AMD TrueAudio technology. Only supported on three graphics cards in the new lineup, AMD TrueAudio technology is a fully programmable audio engine that will, according to AMD, revolutionize gaming audio.

Hardware MSAA and complex lighting

During its GPU 14 event held last night on Hawaii, AMD has also detailed the new Forward+ technology that will bring hardware MSAA and thousands of real-time animated lights in deferred rendering.

Improved support for 4K resolution

During its GPU 14 event, AMD announced that its new R9 290X graphics card is "the generational leap in display resolution that gamers have been waiting for" as it is the first AMD graphics cards with improved compatibility and support for 4K monitors that will bring easier configuration for UltraHD resolution.

Here comes the Volcanic Series

In a rather lengthy but quite interesting GPU 14 event which you could have watched live (well sort of) last night, AMD has finally and officially announced the new R9 and R7 series graphics cards that will be a part of the new Volcanic Islands family of GPUs. The lineup kicks off with the new R9 290X flagship followed by the R9 280X, R9 270X as well as the R7 260X and the R7 250.

Limited number of graphics cards

Since it did talk a lot about Battlefield 4 during its GPU 14 event, it was quite understandable that AMD will do some sort of bundle with it and although it is still not clear if the Battlefield 4 will be a part of any future Never Settle bundle deal, AMD will launch a limited amount of AMD R9 290X Battlefield 4 edition graphics cards.

Faster than Radeon HD 7870

An alleged AMD Curacao Pro based graphics card has leaked earlier this week and apparently we now have first benchmarks which show it should be faster than the Radeon HD 7870.

Hints for new Never Settle bundle

AMD has now officially revealed that EA's upcoming Battlefield 4 title is, as rumored before, a part of AMD Gaming Evolved and should have more details regarding it during its GPU'14 event scheduled to kick off later today.

Redesigned cooler with intakes

There has been a couple of leaks regarding AMD's upcoming Volcanic Islands lineup and the new One shows the upcoming Curacao Pro based graphics card in its full glory. In case you missed it earlier, the Curacao Pro based graphics cards should replace the current Radeon HD 7800 series Pitcain based ones and will also be available in Pro and XT versions.

Take it with a grain of salt

AMD has been doing quite a good job in keeping details regarding its upcoming Volcanic Islands GPU lineup well hidden and only a few days before the "official unveil" we have first alleged pictures and benchmarks of the new flagship. Of course and as always, you should take these with a grain of salt as we are yet to see any official details regarding the new GPUs. According to first details, the Hawaii R9-290X is doing quite well and is even faster than the Nvidia GTX Titan which puts AMD in a really good spot, especially considering that they are aiming at much lower price point.

Volcanic Islands to go live

Matt Skynner interviewed by Forbes

In an interview with Forbes, VP and General Manager of AMD's Graphics Business Unit, Matt Skynner talked a lot about everything including the upcoming Volcanic Islands new graphics cards, next-gen consoles and the criticism that AMD received about the HD 7990. Most important part of the interview are some details regarding the upcoming next-gen graphics cards that will be quite a surprise, according to Matt Skynner.

Entire lineup detailed

Wccftech.com managed to grab some details or precisely, names of the upcoming AMD Radeon Volcanic Islands lineup that was leaked at HIS partner site. There has been a lot of speculation regarding the naming scheme as well as as corresponding relations with the current lineup but it looks like we now have final names.

Filling the gaps before Kaveri

CPU-World.com managed to notice the new listings of two new low-power Richland-based APUs with 45W TDP, the A8-6500T and the A10-6700T. Since AMD's Kaveri-based APUs are still a few months away, AMD is filling the holes in the market and these two new APUs will fit nicely in the low-power segment.

Only for the Gold tier

AMD has expanded its Never Settle Forever bundle deal with Saints Row IV game, which is unfortunately only limited to Gold offer.

Making quite a push into embedded market

AMD has officially released its newest embedded products roadmap that shows upcoming new products and market strategy for 2014 and beyond and certainly represents quite a push into embedded market and devices such as industrial controls, automation, gaming machines, thin clients, digital signage, military/aero, imaging, set-top-box and communications infrastructure.

Game improvements and frame pacing fixes

AMD has released the new Catalyst 13.10 Beta driver that brings new performance improvements, Crossfire profiles and bug fixes as well as brings all the feature and fixes previously available in the Catalyst 13.8 Beta2.

New Radeon Ry xz i naming scheme

Back when AMD launched its very first DirectX 10 graphics card, it has created the Radeon HD xyz0 naming scheme that we really got used to and where, "x" marked the generation, "y" was market segment and "z" was a variant inside that market segment, but now AMD has decided to change things up a bit with the launch of Volcanic Islands GPU family and the new "Radeon Ry xz" i naming scheme.

Should bring cheaper facial expressions

AMD has announced that, in cooperation with Mixamo, has launched the new Face Plus, an advanced real-time motion capture and 3D facial animation technology for Unity Game engine. The new real-time facial capture technology, the Face Plus, should practically bring cheaper capture of facial expressions via standard webcams and transfer them in real time on a 3D character.

Desktop Kabini and Beema pushed back

The most recent AMD product roadmap revealed by Digitimes.com, shows that both the desktop Kabini and its successor Beema have been pushed back. Although originally expected to launch by the end of this year, desktop version of the Kabini APU have been pushed back to late Q1 2014 and should enter production in February and expected to launch in March next year.

With Never Settle Forever

If you are a PC Gamer, then it's most likely you remember one specific YouTube Clip from AMD. Correct: We're talking about the Fixxer. A guy with leather jacket, sunglasses and some serious aggression issues who suddenly appears in a nerd's cave and starts trashing an NVIDIA garphics card. Well, AMD is introducing the next stage of this.
