Conclusion

Overall + -
With the P9 Lite, Huawei created a solid device. The smartphone is fast and it can be found with at the low price of 250 Euros if you want it to be compatible with nano-SIM - on Geizhals.eu. Apart from that there are only minor software flaws like the missing 5 GHz band on the WiFi or the OTG support. The HiSilicon Kirin 650SoC performs very well and in combination with the 3000 mAh battery you'll not have to recharge Huawei uncomfortably often. In addition we like the fact that P9 Lite is available in three different colors: white, black and champagne.   - Performance

Design / Bild Quality   + -
Huawei decided to go for a proven classic "bar" design on the P9 Lite and it includes rounded corners as well as a slim profile, similar to the last iPhone from Apple. The display is protected by a slim film preapplied but if you want a tempered glass protection we suggest to use some aftermarket product. In combination with the very high build quality the P9 Lite feels great. Apart from that there is a 5.2 inch display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution. Despite the size of the Huawei P9 Lite it fits perfectly in every pocket.   - HD-IPS
- Aluminum body
- LCD Protection preapplied

Performance / Battery   + -
Inside the P9 Lite we find a HiSilicon Kirin 650 octa-core SoC with Mali-T830MP2 GPU. We tested the performance of this device with the basic settings and the results are pretty good. Our charts include only a few smartphones but we think there are plenty to see how the P9 Lite stacks up with the competition. During the tests, we haven't detected any overheating issues. The 3000mAh battery on the P9 Lite is not removable and in our opinion battery life is excellent. The only little downside is the slow charger in the delivery.   - Overall Performance
- Battery life
- Slow charger

Display / Camera   + -
The Huawei P9 Lite is equipped with a 5.2-inch display panel which provides life-like colors while both contrast and brightness is really good. Only the reproduction of black could be better since it looks greyish way too often. The 13-megapixel rear camera is doing a decent job. The quality of the pictures, including macro shots, is decent even in low light conditions. Usually this feature is only limited to highend devices. Good is also the software that offers a ton of settings including manual mode for video and pictures.   - Life-like colors - Sharp images

Recommendation / Price   + -
The Huawei P9 Lite is a pretty decent device, especially considering its low price, which makes it perfect for those looking for a smartphone with a good design. Also on the connectivity side there is nothing to complain, since there is for example support for LTE and NFC. At the moment, the Huawei P9 Lite is bundled with Android 6.0, however, the update to Android 7.0 is under way. The price of the Huawei P9 Lite is currently at about 255 euro.   - Pricing
