The most interesting feature of the Rival is definitely its body, which is made from parts with different grips as well as a rough and smooth surfaces. The shape is pretty classic with average dimensions. The left side offers some extra space for the grip of your thumb. The materials are well-researched and like usual, there is a lot of attention to details. The rough and porous surfaces ensure an excellent grip, while the smooth top with its almost velvety finish makes the mouse very comfortable right from the beginning. The shape and arrangement of buttons make the mouse asymmetrical and usable only by right-handers. The wheel, which is made from plastic and covered almost entirely with rubber, is big, strong and provides excellent grip as well as tactile feedback. Right behind the wheel, there is a button to increase/decrease the DPI. On the back of the mouse there is the Steelseries logo, which can glow in RGB color while plugged into a running PC.

Rival uses an optical sensor, the PixArt PMW3310, which is able to reach the 6500 DPI in 50DPI steps. Under the mouse there are four small black teflon feet arranged in a way to ensure a low friction. The sensor is located in the rear part of the center of gravity of the Rival. Despite being a gaming mouse you can't adjust the weight, however, the Rival is already well balanced and very light. The cable is 2.0 meters long and not sleeved.
