Conclusion

General + -
Steelseries Rival is a pleasant surprise. The device is comfortable, with some really interesting features and an expected high build quality. The rubber surface provides a good grip for long gaming sessions. Overall the sensor performs well and the software is practical and easy to use. In our opinion, the optical sensor PixArt PMW3310 is perfect for those who like FPS and MOBA, where a millimeter can make the difference. Steelseries Rival is a customizable mouse and the Danish house offers a 3D model backplate positioned in the back of the mouse which is definitely a nice idea.   - Weight

Performance / Ergonomics   + -
Steelseries Rival is a gaming mouse designed for those who loves the palm grip and at the same time the claw grip. The Rival can be used in both worlds. We do not recomment the Rival for those who prefer the firgertip grip, since there are mice specifically created for this purpose. The sensor is able to achieve a resolution of 6500 DPI and behaves quite well during game sessions and daily usage. The feeling of the Rival is immediate, accurate and fast. The glide pads are made from teflon, which guarantees excellent durability. Apart from that, you can find different surfaces used on the mouse, which provide either perfect grip or comfortable handling. Ergonomically, the Rival is very comfortable from the first contact, thanks to the soft touch cover on the top. Only the "B6" button, the one dedicated to setting the DPI cycle, is too uncomfortable to use and we would have liked to see a bigger button.   - Sensor
- Comfort
- B6 button too small

Software   + -
The software, available on the official website, it is well made and easy to use. The program is complete, intuitive and easy to use. There are even some interesting options for the backlight, like the "LED mode" which can work in three differents ways. The software is compabitile with most operating systems including Mac OS X and the latest Windows 8.1.   - Easy to use

Recommendation / Price   + -
The price of the Steelseries Rival is about 55 Euros. In terms of value, it is certainly a product of excellent quality and in line with competition with features, finish and manufacturing quality.   - Price
