AMD A10-5800K vs A10-6800K Gaming-Performance
Category : 2013
Published by Marc Büchel on 30.11.13
In the past few months we tested and compared quite a few Intel CPUs regarding gaming performance. Therefore it's about time that we have a closer look at some AMD CPUs. Today we're going to check out AMDs A10-6800K and put it up against its predecessor the AMD A10-5800K. We're quite curious if there will be bigger differences than with the Intel CPUs.

Conclusion
In the past few months we
had a strong focus on CPU gaming performance comparisons with Intel processors.
Therefore it's more than just about time, that we take a closer look at some AMD
CPUs. In this particular case, we're having a closer look at the performance
differences of AMDs A10-5800K as well as A10-6800K. If you followed our earlier
CPU gaming performance comparison articles, you will have noticed, that usually
the differences were very small.
A closer look at the performance figures reveals that at standard clock speeds
and low resolutions, the AMD A10-6800K is about 4.4 percent faster than the
predecessor AMD A10-5800K. Overclocked to 4.5 GHz, the A10-6800K is about 3.2
percent faster than then A10-5800K. Once we change to high resolutions, we see
that the differences get very small. At standard clock speeds we see 1 percent
difference and at 4.5 GHz the difference is a mere 0.65 percent. The story becomes a
bit more interesting, when we have a look at power consumption. Although at
stock clocks there is almost no measurable difference, but at least at 4.5 GHz
we see that the A10-6800K is quite a bit more efficient.
Once more we see with the comparison, that gaming performance really doesn't
depend on the CPU. The most important piece of hardware in your setup is
definitely the graphics card. If you thought about upgrading from a A10-5800K to
a A10-6800K to get some more frames per second, there really is no need for
that. The differences are simply tiny.
