Closer Look
With dimensions of 524 x 240 x 57 mm and the weight of nearly 2 kilograms, the Dezimator is a very sturdy and solid keyboard. Epic Gear has chosen to use durable materials such as aluminum, which covers the top of the keyboard. The layout is standard, on the left
side there are five macro keys and on the upper right corner there are different indicators for "Caps Lock", "Num Lock" and "Scroll Lock". In addition, in the same area, Epic Gear has positioned a wheel that adjusts the volume. Like all high-end gaming keyboard the Dezimator
uses CherryMX switches. In our case, these were Cherry MX Red switches, but
there is also a version with Cherry MX Brown switches as well.
To add more functionality to the Dezimator, Epic Gear equipped it with a FN button located right next to the ALT GR
key. The F keys, from F5 to F8, have a dual multimedia function. Despite the
fact that the keyboard is defined as backlit, not all the keycaps can claim this feature. The backlight can be adjusted using FN + F12 and illuminate only the warzone area (WASD + number 1-6) and the macro keys. There are different levels of backlight and, in addition, under the body of the keyboard there is another big red LED which gives the Dezimator an extra aggressive touch.
Front/Back
If you flip the Dezimator you will realize that this product is quite heavy, almost 2
kg! The weight is certainly not a problem, it is rather a very positive aspect and also thanks to the huge rubber non-slip
area, it will not move from your desk even during the most intense gaming sessions. On the rear you can find the two feet,
which you get with every keyboard. On the rear profile, there are two USB 2.0 ports and a small panel audio. Despite that connections have been well integrated into the body of the keyboard, we
unfortunately found some trouble inserting large USB flash drives such as our Corsair Voyager USB3.0.
The cable is also on a high level of quality and comes sleeved in black and red color scheme.

Software
In the package you will not find a CD/DVD with the software so if you want to be able to use all the features then you
will have to head to the Epic Gear website and download the latest version of their software.
The user interface of the software is well designed and recalls the aggressive lines and colors of the Dezimator. The software is divided into 4 tabs, the first is dedicated to the backlight and gaming profiles, the second to the assignment of the keys, the third to the recording of the macro and the last shows the versions of the driver and firmware.

Epic Gear has developed a solid and heavy mechanical keyboard. The weight and the rubber feet ensure the Dezimator
sits firmly on your desk. Epic Gear has finally produced something different than usual, using a unique style and design. Overall, the product is very good with a rich bundle, but unfortunately
only comes with a partial red LED backlight. |

Manufacturing quality / Ergonomics |

Despite the backlight is not complete but only on certain keys, it is clear, precise and overall very pleasing. The function keys are comfortable and practical, we enjoyed the addition of a wheel for volume control. The Dezimator uses CherryMX Red
switches and offers the possibility to set up to 10 different profiles. The key travel is precise and linear, the answer is always detected immediately and perfect as you would expect from a mechanical keyboard of this range. Despite the unclear shape and out of the ordinary design, the Dezimator is very comfortable and customizable, thanks to the double adjustment
f the stand and ergonomic gel present on the lower end of the keyboard's body. |

Unlike other manufacturers, Epic Gear had not save money on this aspect
and it is not bundled in the package. The software is clear and precise, the functions are few and easy to edit. The GUI is well made and recalls the style of the keyboard. |

Recommendation / Price |

If you are bored by the classic style of keyboards and you are looking for a unique product, with good materials and finish, we can reccomend the Dezimator from Epic Gear. On Geizhals has a starting price of 130 euro excluding shipping costs
and is available with CherryMX Red and Brown switches. For a product of this type, the price is not very high, however,we believe it is too high for a partial backlit gaming keyboard. |
