Published by Luca Rocchi on 27.02.14
With the Fulmo ST, Enermax released a new ATX case. The front shows a lot of mesh material with suggests a case that support a high airflow. Other than that it look like the interior offers good flexibility and other than that no less than ten 2.5 inch drives can be installed. Furthermore there are several possibilities to place radiators. At a very first glance it looks like this could be quite a neat case for gamer and maybe also modder.
Today we are checking out Enermax's newest
mid-tower case, the Fulmo ST, which packs quite a few interesting and
high-quality features in a standard mid-tower form-factor.

Front
Overview |
|
|
The Fulmo series uses quite squared lines and
reminds us of the Cooler Master HAF series. The materials, after an initial analysis, are of good quality. Even the paint looks uniform on
the entire body. The front of the Fulmo ST is entirely made of ABS and black mesh.
The upper part of the case features three 5.25" bays and the lower part
is taken by the silver Enermax logo. Behind the front mesh there are the two 120/140mm fans placed
to cool down the HDDs. |

Back
Overview |
|
|
The rear part, like the
bottom one, is made of black SECC steel. In the upper part there is a
place for the rear fan and three rubber grommets for liquid systems. Like many newer cases,
it feature 7+1 PCI expansion slots. The area devoted to the power supply is located at the bottom of the case,
and the housing is comfortable and very spacious so you can even install big PSU without any problem. |

Right side
Overview |
|
|
Enermax has not saved weight on the side panels, in fact both covers are very solid and heavy. On the right side you
will not find any ventilation holes or mesh but still it is not plain as there is a special shape, which give you some more space to put some more cables on the backside of the motherboard. After removing the side panel, you will see
a generous cut dedicated to the backplate of the CPU. On the motherboard tray there are many cut-out holes
which will help with cable management. Last but not the least, is an
ability to install an SSD on the back of the motherboard tray. |

Overview |

As you can see from the pictures, Fulmo ST has a generous window that will allow you to enjoy all your hardware. At the front there is
a whole area dedicated to the installation of HDD and SSD. The Fulmo ST will be able to hold up to ten 2.5 inch drives as well as eight 3.5 inch ones. The carriages for storage devices are well done and very easy to use. Mounting and unmounting devices is very easy and can be done quickly. As we said earlier, there are three 5.25 inch slots and they are totally tool-free. The cages can be removed in case you want to install a radiator in the front of the case. On the bottom of the case there is an additional space for SSDs. In the top you can install a 240/280 mm radiator or alternatively 2x 120/140 mm fans.
In our configuration, we used a graphics card of a rather generous size and, as you can see we were able to install it without any problems. Once you have placed all the components inside the case, we can say that the Fulmo ST is very spacious and you will be able to install large heatsinks and high-end graphics cards. |

Top
Overview |
|
|
The top shares the same aggressive line of the front, also here is possible remove the entire top panel to access to the radiator or fans. Closer to the front, there are the I/O connectors, where you get 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0 as well as audio.

Bottom
Overview |
|
|
The bottom part is simple, there is a removable dust filter and four chrome solid rubber coated feet. The dust filters are removable and washable. |

Conclusion
General |
|

The new Enermax Fulmo ST is quite a good case and offers a lot of different features. We liked
the flexibility regarding cooling options and the space for high-end
graphics card. Fulmo ST is well made, the steel frame is solid and the
finish is in line with the products tested in the same price range. Last but not least
is the price, which is very good for a windowed mid-tower case.

The build quality is very good, the Fulmo ST is produced with really decent materials, and the black finish with a lot of mesh gives it an appealing look. Overall there is plenty of internal space and allows you to have a very powerful rig without worrying about messy cable management or high temperatures. Also on the backside of the motherboard or on the side panel, there is
plenty of space to route lots of cables. |

The design is always a subjective aspect, but we appreciate the wide use of mesh and lines rather
than plain square look. Since this model is proposed for gamers, you can install a large amount of radiators and fans. Fulmo ST utilizes a tool-less retention systems,
which is definitely a plus in our book. However, we have found a couple of downsides,
as for example, the lower dust filter is not so easy to remove and some edges are too sharp. |
