GeForce GTX 660 Ti vs GeForce GTX 760 - Should I upgrade?

A gamer simply can't get enough graphics power in their rig, which makes the upgrade question omnipresent. To show you whether it makes sense to upgrade from one generation to another we created this series of articles, where we will compare graphics cards from different generations. Today we're having a close look at the differences between the GTX 660 Ti and the GTX 760.
Lets
take a closer look at the results in the games we tested. In this case we can
see, that the performance improvement from the GTX 660 Ti to the GTX 760 varies
between 8.9 (Far Cry 3) and -3.3 percent (Dirt Showdown). On average the GTX 760 is
almost 5.2 percent quicker than the GTX 660 Ti.
At this point we also want to have a quick look at power consumption. Running
our test setup with the GTX 760 made it consume nine watt less in idle than with the GTX
660 Ti. Under load we noticed, that the test setup equipped with the GTX 760 needed
40 watts more. We explain the increased power consumption by the higher clock
speeds as well as the fact, that the GTX 760 comes with more activated sharder
units.
Last but not least we answer the initial question: should I upgrade? Well, no.
Since the GTX 760 is very similar to the GTX 660 Ti we much rather
recommend to overclock your GTX 660 Ti a little bit to even outpace a reference GTX
760. We definitely wouldn't waste a few hundred bucks on a new card, that is
just a mere five percent quicker.
