The 700M is the Cougars high-end gaming mouse, which is based on a highly customizable layout. Apart from that there are 8 buttons as well as weight stones next to an 8200 DPI sensor. The structure is made from a single block of aluminum and the looks are rather aggressive. Next to the mouse we're also having a closer look at the Cougars SPEED mousepad.

Today, we are taking a closer look at a new gaming mouse from Cougar, which is called 700M. This rodent is actually an adjustable gaming mouse that features a laser sensor with up to 8200DPI resolution, customizable LED lighting and a full support for palm and claw grip.

Closer Look
The Cougar 700M comes with an aggressive design. For customization purposes you can choose to put different parts in place, that feature different surfaces and you can choose between porous and smooth/soft touch applicats. The Cougar 700M measures 127mm x 83mm x 38mm, which makes it a medium sized gaming mouse. Apart from that it weighs 110 grams, which is not too heavy but also not very light. On the left side there are three thumb buttons and one of them is placed at 45 degrees to ensure a better grip. The wheel, almost entirely made from rubber, it is thick, solid and it offers tactile feedback, which allows for feeling the each scrolling step precisely. Right behind the wheel, there is the button to increase / decrease the DPI. The 700M is only suitable for right-handed gamers and overall there are eight programmable buttons.
As you can see from the pictures, the mouse also comes with RGB customizable LED in the front. The cable is not removable but it is sleeved with black cloth strings and measures almost two meters. The USB header received gold plating.
The Cougar 700M also features an adjustable weights system. For that purpose there are four small weight stones, which let you add 4.5 grams with each stone. The weight stones are positioned in the center part of the body in order to keep the mouse in balance.

Cougar decided to equip this mouse with an ADNS-9800 sensor with a maximum resolution of 8200 DPI. Furthermore this mouse has been equipped with glidepads made from teflon. As we mentioned before, Cougar ships the 700M in combination with different pads, which allow for a high level of customization. In this case you can choose between porous and smooth/soft touch parts and use whichever you prefer. On the bottom side there is a small aluminum silver wheel that will help to adjust shape and size. Additionally there is another smaller palm rest, that comes with a soft touch surface. This model is there to the help adjust the mouse to the needs of "claw" or "palm" grip gamers. The chassis is made of aluminum and despite the very lively coloring, does not stand out too much.

Software
Cougar didn't include the software in the bundle. In this case you first have to go to the manufacturers website to download the latest version yourself. The software GUI is perfectly in line with the attractive design of the mouse and it is practical and easy to use. With the supplied software, you can configure basically everything you might like to set yourself, such as for example, lighting colors, DPI, macros and much more.

| The Cougar 700M is an overall well built gaming mouse. Basically every single part of this rodent is of good quality and the customizability adds to this overall experience. Since the basic structure of this mouse has been made from metal it can take quite a beating. | As usual, we used the gaming mouse in both 2D and 3D environments for our tests. After a few days with standard office applications we can say that, despite being a gaming mouse,
Cougars new product is perfectly capable to also excel under these
circumstances. Since this is a gaming mouse, we spent most of the time using it for gaming. We have used the Cougar 700M with RTS and FPS games and there were no big issues. The ergonomics with mice are always subjective but in our case we haven't noticed excessive hand fatigue due to the adjustable shape. Apart from that we like the coating, which feels soft and comfortable. There is also the possibility to adjust the weight with four small 4.5g stones. We believe that this mouse could be greatly improved if Cougar was using larger and thicker glide pads. At the moment the 700M feels rather sticky no matter what surface you're using it on although a gaming mouse should fly, especially on plastic mouse pads. |

| We have tested the mouse with the Cougar Speed Mat. The bottom part of this mousepad is made from relatively soft foam material, which comes with a certain kind of memory effect. | If you are looking for a highly customizable gaming mouse
with eight buttons, then the Cougar 700M is worth looking at. The Cougar 700M is available in silver or black,
and the MSRP is 79 US-Dollar, which we think is rather steep. The Cougar SPEED mouse mat is available in three different sizes: S, M and L. For testing we had the large version and the price of this one is 19.90 US-Dollar. This is a decent mouse pad, which features a reasonable price tag and also the performance is adequate. |
