The market for gaming peripherals never sleeps, and today we're having a close look at a product from Tt eSports. This particular keyboard comes with Kailh switches, which are very similar to CherryMX brown and apart from that there basically no additional features. The only thing you get on top is a blue backlight.

Closer Look

The new Tt eSports Poseidon Z Illuminated gaming keyboard doesn't have any frills: once you take it out of its box, which has almost no bundle at all, you'll instantly feel the building quality and the effort put into this product. Even if it's a full layout keyboard, it doesn't take up too much space, which can be really good if you have a small table or if you attend LAN parties where there's usually not much space. To keep it to a minimum, Tt eSports doesn't equip this keyboard with a wrist rest bar, but that doesn't affect too much on the comfort during usage. Other than the most common keys you can find on any keyboard, Tt eSports embedded Multimedia keys in the F1 through F7 keys, which can be used with the FN key. Furthermore, using the FN key, you'll be able to change the brightness level of the backlight in 4 different levels. Since there's no dedicated software, every single feature can be used as soon as you connect the Poseidon Z to your system, making this keyboard a 100% “Plug and Play”. On the top right corner you'll find the Windows Lock key, so that you won't accidentally reduce the game. The backlight is good, even though a few keycaps are only partially illuminated. Unfortunately there are no programmable keys, so the Poseidon Z is not fit for those users who use a lot of Macros. The Kailh mechanical switches are virtually identical to the Cherry MX Brown, and they offer a good tactile feeling, both while you're writing and while you're fighting on the battlefield. Despite what you might think, this kind of switch is not so clicky and noisy, keeping in mind that we are talking about a mechanical keyboard.

Back

The back side of the Poseidon Z is plain and simple, following the entire design of the keyboard. There are 5 rubber feet that are more than enough to keep the keyboard still on the table, and two more feet to regulate the inclination. The USB cable is 1.8 meter long and it is absolutely normal, sleeved in a plastic material. On the back you can also find a sticker, featuring a few technical informations and disclaimers.

Conclusion

General + -
We are more than satisfied with this new Tt eSports keyboard: thanks to the Kailh Brown switches and the blue backlight, the Poseidon Z is a great gaming keyboard for the player that doesn't like flashy peripherals. Every single feature is “Plug and Play”, since there's no customization software.   - Weight
- Design

Manufacturing quality / Ergonomics   + -
The building quality of the new Tt eSports Poseidon Z Illuminated is great: the product is robust and made out of high quality materials, keycaps give a nice a grippy feeling on the fingertips. Since it weighs 995g you are not likely to move it around on the table by accident, so it's safe to assume that the Poseidon Z won't slip away during the most intense gaming moments. As far as design is concerned there's not much to say: Tt eSports kept it to a minimum, which is absolutely great, and they created a simple peripheral that will do what is design to do, without flashy features. Following this idea, they created a compact keyboard with a decent number of features, thanks to the FN key that will allow you to control Multimedia files and the backlight level. Unfortunately there are no programmable keys, so we wouldn't recommend the purchase if you need Macros.   - Build quality
- Comfort
- No programmable keys

Recommendation / Price   + -
As we speak, the Tt eSports Poseidon Z Illuminated is available on Geizhals.de for just 55€, which is an awesome deal for what you're getting. Tt eSports offers a 5 year warranty on this keyboard.
