AMD's new 12-core A-Series APU inbound

Hinted with by PR

AMD has recently kicked off a new PR campaign and issued a few teasers that hints an upcoming new 12-core AMD A-series APU.

While still far from confirmed, all recently released promo material, including the picture of a truck as well as the "Core is Back" teaser video, which you can see below, are pointing to an upcoming launch of a new A-series APU with 12 Steamroller CPU cores.

AMD has recently invented the term Compute Cores, and markets its Kaveri APU as the chip which has 12 Compute Cores, four CPU and eight Compute Unit cores, which means that you basically get a quad-core APU with GPU that has 8 Compute Units so it is also possible that we are looking at an upcoming AMD A-Series APU which will have 12 Compute Core s as opposed to 12 Steamroller cores.

Of course, the most possible and most logical conclusion is that we will soon see a chip with 12 Steamroller cores since we have already seen AMD's FX-series chip with 16 cores.

In any case, we will keep an eye on AMD's #AMDEvolved and hopefully we will soon see what AMD is preparing to launch.
