Black bars now removable in The Evil Within

1.5 Gigabyte beauty patch

The Evil Within game has been out for around two weeks and gamers have been complaining a lot about the 30 FPS limitation, as well as the letterbox format. It appears that Bethesda has been listening and they have prepared a 1.5 Gigabyte patch to fix some of these problems.

Since the game was only playable in letterbox format, you would end up with two black bars on the screen, the same ones you know from movies. To remove these annoying black bars there is now a new entry available in the game video settings. Apart from that, there is another setting which allows you to change the refresh rate too. Therefore the 30 FPS limitation is history now.

Nevertheless, there are still some hickups in the game which gamers also had to deal with when they were removing the black bars by entering console commands. So far the game has become visually more attractive, but it is still far from being perfect.

If you want to find out more about all the changes made to the game we recommend you have a look at the release notes from Bethesda, which you can find at their forum.
