Samsung, Apple, LG are top 3 smartphone vendors

According to Digitimes report

According to a fresh report, Samsung, Apple and LG have ranked as top three smartphone vendors on the global market in the third quarter of this year, according to reports from vendors and supply chain.

Digitimes Research has published its latest report suggesting that Samsung, Apple and LG still firmly hold the third place in global smartphone market while China-based Huawei, Xiaomi and Lenovo are holding fourth, fifth and seventh position, in the same Q3 2014 period.

The biggest growth was seen from China-based vendors as five out of top 10 vendors in the January to September period were coming from China, and Xiaomi is in the lead with almost 200 percent on-year growth. ZTE, which was big in 2013, has dropped down from the top 10 list.

According to the same report, global smartphone shipments are expected to reach 1.219 billion units during this year, which is a growth of around 30 percent compared to 2013. Those same shipments are expected to grow for additional 22 percent, up to 1.488 billion units, in 2015.
