Far Cry 4 struggles and crashes on dual-core CPUs

The time of quad-core CPUs is here?

It appears that dual-core CPUs are no longer going to do well when it comes to games as according to some recent reports, Far Cry 4 crashes on dual-core CPUs without Hyper-Threading and even struggles on those that have Hyper-Threading.

According to Reddit forum posts, spotted by Wccftech.com, the latest Ubisoft Far Cry 4 game is refusing to work on some dual-core PCs without Hyper-Threading and those dual-core CPUs with four threads are not doing better either, as although the game loads on some, the performance is just not there.

Gaming on a budget was always a big thing and there are plenty of ways to save money on certain components in order to still get a decent gaming experience on reasonable resolution. Intel had the Pentium G3220 and the Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition which did well, but now it looks like the quad-core CPUs are a bare minimum that you must have for gaming today.

Ubisoft has recently published minimum system requirements for Far Cry 4, which already suggested that Intel Core i5-750 and AMD Phenom II X4 955 are what you need to have in order to play the game.

Similar thing happened with Watch Dogs game, which did not do good on dual-core CPUs either, so if you are running on such a CPU, this holiday shopping season might be a good time to upgrade it to a quad-core CPU.
