AMD Kaveri refresh coming in June-July

100MHz faster

As it was clear that AMD's next-gen Carrizo APU will not be coming to the desktop market, it appears that AMD will launch Kaveri refresh sometime in June or July timeframe, codename Godavari.

The Godavari refresh will still be based on the same 28nm manufacturing process and Sweclockers.com even managed to get some details regarding the A10-8550K Godavari APU, which looks like a faster A10-7850K Kaveri APU. The new Godavari A10-8850K will push the Turbo clock from 4.0GHz up to 4.1GHz, the graphics clock will be raised from 720MHz to 856MHz, while the rest of the specifications will be identical to the A10-7850K, including the 95W TDP.

According to these specifications, it appears that the Godavari APU refresh will be similar to the Richland refresh we saw a few years back, with just a 100MHz frequency bump and minor other improvements.

AMD will most likely have quite a few new Godavari APU SKUs to offer and all should still work with existing socket FM2+ motherboard. Unfortunately, this might not be enough for AMD to effectively counter Intel's Broadwell lineup
