Battlefield Hardline to have AMD Mantle API support

Possibly not at launch

While it was not included in the recent PC beta of Battlefield Hardline, AMD has confirmed that the game will eventually have support for Mantle API.

While it does not come as a surprise considering that Battlefield 4 had it, AMD has announced that its Mantle API will be supported in the upcoming Battlefield Hardline game which launched on March 17th. Unfortunately, it is still not clear if the support will be available from day one or if it will be added at a later date.

AMD has decided to switch its focus from Mantle API to DirectX 12 and in a recent blog post, written by AMD's VP of Visual and Perceptual Computing, Raja Koduri, suggested that developers should focus on DirectX 12 and GLnext. The future of Mantle is still not clear as AMD suggested that it should evolve into something different and has promised that we will hear more about it at Game Developers Conference 2015 scheduled to start this week.

At least those running on AMD Radeon hardware will be glad to know that Battlefield Hardline will support Mantle and hopefully this will not be the end of it.
