GALAX announces new Gamer Series SSDs

Based on JMicron Heracles controller

A crowded SSD market now has a new player as GALAX, a brand known for their graphics card and which was created as unified global brand of Galaxy and its European brand, KFA2, has now announced its newest Gamer Series SSDs based on JMicron controller.

To be available in 120 and 240GB capacities, the new GALAX Gamer SSDs are based on JMicron Heracles SATA 6Gbps interface controller, paired up with MLC NAND and standard 7mm thick 2.5-inch form-factor. With sequential transfer speed of up to 540MB/s for read and 480MB/s for write and 4K random performance of 74,000 IOPS for read and 76,000 IOPS for write, the new GALAX Gamer SSDs will be able to give a decent competition.

The GALAX Gamer SSD series also come with SLC Cache Auto-Release feature which should maintain full write speed over long file transfers and extended use, elimination performance drop, have MTBF rating of 2 million hours and support standard TRIM and S.M.A.R.T features.

Unfortunately, GALAX did not announce any details regarding the availability date or the price of the new GALAX Gamer SSD series.
