Nvidia might be working on new Shield Portable

Powered by Tegra X1 SoC

According to a leaked Bluetooth certification documents, it appears that Nvidia might be working on the new Shield Portable handheld console which will be powered by the Tegra X1 SoC.

While Nvidia had moderate success with the original Shield Portable handheld console, it appears that the company does not want to abandon the project. As it already announced the new Shield console based on Android TV OS and the same Tegra X1 SoC, and there were plenty of rumors regarding the new Shield Tablet, it appears that we will also see the new Shield Portable based on the same SoC.

Spotted by Liliputing, the Bluetooth SIG documents list a "system mainboard" for both the Shield console (set-top box) and Shield Portable, a portable gaming console. As noted, the new device will be based on Tegra X1 SoC with 64-bit octa-core CPU part and Maxwell-based GPU with 256-cores as well as run on Android 5.0 OS.

Currently, Nvidia original Shield Portable handheld console is out of stock which also suggest that Nvidia is clearing stock in order to prepare for the new version.
