AMD Godavari APUs coming in May

14nm APUs coming in 2016

According to latest report, it appears that AMD's Kaveri-refresh, codename Godavari APUs, will be launching next month, ahead of the Computex 2015 show. AMD is also expected to release its new Bristol Ridge and Raven Ridge APUs in 2016 and 2017.

According to a report coming from Digitimes.com, citing industry sources in Taiwan, AMD is preparing to launch its next-gen Godavari APUs in May 2015, ahead of the Computex 2015 show.

Based on an updated Excavator CPU architecture paired up with Graphics Core Next (GCN) graphics part. The Godavari lineup will be a part of AMD's A-series 8000 family and feature up to four Steamroller cores, Radeon R7 graphics, dual-channel DDR3 memory controller, PCI-Express gen 3.0 interface and support for Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) capabilities.

Since this is just a mere Kaveri-refresh, these APUs will essentially be the same as the Kaveri with higher CPU and GPU clocks. While these are expected to be officially announced in May, high-volume shipments are expected in June.

In addition to the upcoming Godavari APUs, AMD also plans to release its Bristol Ridge and Raven Ridge APUs in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

Both the Bristol Ridge and Raven Ridge are a part of AMD's Summit Ridge lineup and are based on a 14nm manufacturing process. According to known details, AMD's Bristol Ridge APUs will be still based on Excavator CPU architecture while the Raven Ridge will use the new Zen architecture.
