Youtube Gaming officially announced

Coming online later today

Google-owned Youtube has announced its newest Youtube Gaming service which should go online later and give Amazon-owned Twitch a run for its money.

Since gaming related videos are already quite popular on Youtube, it was just a matter of time before we got something similar to Twitch on Youtube as well. Scheduled to go live later today, around 6 PM CET, Youtube Gaming will be a web service, complemented by both Android OS and iOS apps.

Simply put, Youtube Gaming will automatically collect all gaming related videos, including live-streams as well as provide an easier way to live-stream games with dedicated site.

"Together, we all make gaming better," said Frank Petterson, engineering manager for YouTube Gaming, in a prepared statement. "Our peers make us better gamers, and games are made better by the communities that surround them."

YouTube Gaming will launch initially on an English-language website. The Android and iOS apps for YouTube Gaming will roll out today for the UK and the US, while with other countries are "coming soon," according to Google.

While it was announced back in June, it took Google only two months to prepare YouTube Gaming so hopefully it will be a good way to stream and watch gaming content.
