Star Wars Battlefront pre-load begins on Origin

Just under 11GB

As promised by EA/DICE earlier, pre-load for the open beta phase of Star Wars Battlefront is now available for PC users on Origin.

Weighing in at just under 11GB, the Star Wars Battlefront open beta will kick off tomorrow, October 8th at 3:00 PM UTC and will end on October 12th. At the time of writing, it seems that Origin servers are holding up and there are no problems with the download.

In case you missed it earlier, the open beta will include three modes including Walker Assault on Hoth, Drop Zone on Sullust nad Survival Mission on Tatooine. This means that you have both online and offline modes. The beta phase will also include a level cap, only allowing users to reach level five. There will be plenty of vehicles to try out as well as two of the most famous heroes, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

While system requirements are a bit on the high side, recent reports suggest that there are plenty of graphics settings so it should not be a problem for users with hardware that is lower than recommended requirements.

We are already pre-loading the game and we will publish some screenshots when the game goes live tomorrow. Be sure to say Hi if you see some of our staff in the game. We hope that EA/DICE learned from Yoda's “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” quote and that servers will hold up when the game starts tomorrow. May the force be with you.
