Sony cuts the price of Playstation 4 to $349.99

In the US and Canada

Confirming the earlier rumors, Sony has dropped the price of its Playstation 4 console in the US and Canada by US $50, down to US $349.99.

Announced at the Playstation Blog, the new US $349.99 price for the Playstation 4 500GB console that will be available as of today in the US and Canada, was not a big surprise considering that the same news was heavily rumored earlier.

In addition to the price cut, Sony has announced plenty of other holiday bundles which will include some rather nice games.

While Playstation 4 still holds the crown in the console world, Microsoft's Xbox One will get a major update in November, bringing Xbox 360 backward compatibility, new Windows 10-based OS with PC to Xbox One game streaming and a faster UI, all of which are expected to push Xbox One sales.

While Sony has no plans for backward-compatibility, some say that it is still a better console and with a price cut, it might stay that way, despite numerous updates for Xbox One.
