AMD R9 Fury X2 packs 12 TFLOPS of compute performance

Slightly higher compared to R9 295 X2

As AMD teased some systems based on the upcoming Radeon R9 Fury X2 graphics card during VRLA show, we now have a bit more official details regarding the actual performance of the new flagship dual-GPU graphics card.

According to AMD's Roy Taylor, the Radeon R9 Fury X2 should provide around 12 TFLOPS of single-precision compute performance. This is not a big boost compared to 11.5 TFLOPS of compute performance offered by previous dual-GPU flagship, the Radeon R9 295 X2.

On the other hand, R9 Fury X2 does it while using 375W of power while the Radeon R9 295 X2 used around 500W, which makes the R9 Fury X2 around 40 percent more power efficient.

Showcased inside the Falcon Northwest Tiki compact gaming desktop, the Radeon R9 Fury X2 comes as AMD's promise to deliver "the world's most powerful small computer for developers."

According to earlier rumors, AMD delayed the Radeon R9 Fury X2 in order to wait for virtual reality headsets to become available and it should launch sometime in the second quarter of this year.
