Third GP104 SKU could be 192-bit GTX 1060 Ti

Third mystery SKU

According to the latest reports, the third mystery SKU based on Pascal GP104 GPU could end up to be the GTX 1060 Ti, a cut-down version of the GTX 1070.

As Videocardz.com pointed out, earlier rumors pointed out that Nvidia will most likely launch three different SKUs based on the upcoming Pascal GP104 GPU. These include the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 as well as the third SKU which remained a mystery.

With the Maxwell GPU, Nvidia left a big gap between the GTX 960 and GTX 970, allowing AMD to reign supreme in the US $200 to $300 segment but it appears that Nvidia will not make the same mistake this time as the third mystery SKU could be the GTX 1060 Ti, which should be a cut-down version of the GTX 1070 and fit nicely below it.

According to a report coming from Chiphell.com, the third SKU, powered by GP104-150-A1 GPU, should be called the GTX 1060 Ti and it will be a heavily cut-down version, which means both lower CUDA core count as well as a 192-bit memory interface paired up with 6GB of memory.

This is a significant cut compared to the GTX 1080/1070 which should pack up to 8GB of memory on a 256-bit memory interface.

Eerlier reports also suggested that GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 could launch in early-June while the third SKU could follow in mid-June. Nvidia will also prepare the GP106 GPU which should drive the sub-$200 market and cards based on that GPU should come in Autumn 2016.
