AMD gains some GPU market share in last quarter

Mostly thanks to mid-range GPU market

According to the latest report, AMD's focus on mid-range graphics card market is paying off as the company has managed to gain some market share in the last quarter.

According to Mercury Research, AMD managed to increase its GPU market share by 4.8 percent in the last quarter, ending with a total of 34.2 percent.

While Nvidia still hold most of the market share, AMD's focus on mid-range and entry-level graphics card market is working as after all, 85 percent of all graphics cards are coming from mid-range and entry-level segments.

Nvidia has somewhat successfully countered AMD's Polaris launch with Geforce GTX 1060 and still holds the majority of the market share, mostly due to the lack of competition in the upper high-end graphics card market.

AMD is also working on the Vega GPU for high-end graphics card market but this one won't be available before early 2017.
