AMD hits "over 100 FreeSync" monitors mark

The Lenovo Y27F is the 101st

AMD has announced that it managed to pass a 100 FreeSync monitors mark, with the latest Lenovo Y27F being a 101st monitor with FreeSync support.

According to AMD, there are now over 100 monitors with support for its adaptive refresh rate technology, also known as FreeSync.

Unlike Nvidia G-Sync, which works on a different standard, AMD uses VESA's royalty-free Adaptive-Sync technology. The FreeSync is also an optional component of the DisplayPort 1.2a specification and offer a dynamic refresh rate of anywhere between 9Hz and 240Hz.

The aforementioned Lenovo Y27F is a 27-inch 1920x1080 144Hz curved monitor that could be a really good seller thanks to its low US $399 price tag.

Recently, Samsung has announced some really impressive monitors which should be showcased at IFA 2016, which kicks off on September 1st and come support for AMD FreeSync.

AMD FreeSync technology is definitely kicking off and gives AMD an edge over Nvidia, mainly due to a high price of monitors with G-Sync support.
