GTX Titan about to get a refresh?

Faster than the 780 Ti, apparently

Since NVIDIA released the GTX 780 Ti their mighty GTX Titan is not the mightiest graphics card any more. With its substantially higher clock speeds, the GTX 780 Ti outperforms the GTX Titan quite easily. Even though the GTX 780 Ti is more powerful than the GTX Titan NVIDIA did not change the price, which makes the GTX Titan quite ridiculous these days. Today we have a fresh set of rumors suggesting that we might see a new GTX Titan refresh quite soon.

According to a report over at VideoCardz there are some pictures of a GTX Titan with a black-colored cooler. The cooler still features the original design and we can still see the Titan logo and basically the only thing that is different is the color of the cooler, which changed from silver to black. If the report from VideoCardz prove to be true, then NVIDIA might be preparing the GTX Titan Black Edition.

When it comes to the chip, we will most likely see a fully fledged GK110 with all 15 SMX clusters enabled. Everything else would not make any sense in this case. Apparently NVIDIA would also have to fiddle with clock speeds, meaning that the Titan refresh should be clocked at least as high, if not even higher than the GTX 780 Ti. Regarding memory, well there should be 6GB of it since 3GB just does not not cut it anymore these days and 12GB is pretty unrealistic and quite needless for now.
