Brazil is voting on Internet Constitution

To get a neutral web and to protect privacy

It seems like Brazil is rushing things to create an Internet Constitution, an important project that has not been treated with the importance that deserves, at least not by European countries.

Data protection, equal rights for internet access, setting limits to what kind of data the government can collect from the web; these are the main focus of the new document proposed by Brazil. In Europe, sadly, there has not been much work done, and similar document has yet to be analyzed by the European Commission.

The paper is almost ready in Brazil as the Senate has already approved the first draft of the document and the President, Dilma Roussef, is all for implementation. Brazilian citizens can be sure that their government will have to follow many rules when it comes to collecting data from the Internet.

The project is sponsored by Tim Berners-Lee, father of the Internet, and it opens the road for many other countries that will have to create a similar document in the next few years.
