Conclusion

Corsair pretty much offers a low cost PSU with the new GS800. The low cost aspect can be easily noticed with this PSU. The quality of components and manufacturing as well as the heatsink solutions are not comparable with high-end PSU. However, with the GS800, Corsair also managed to offer a PSU which is able to power most PCs today. The feature with an illuminated fan is, on our view, a waste of money. The PSU would be much better if CWT/Corsair have invested in Japanese caps on the secondary side. Generally, we would love to see much better components and quality at a price of 120 CHF. We can recommend it as a low cost solution but would also suggest that you take a look at the Corsair CX750M, which is not that much worse but also cheaper as well as the Corsair AX860 which is a high end PSU. Of course, some might prefer the LED fan on the GS800 and this is purely subjective decision.

The Corsair GS800 receives 2.5 out of 5 possible stars from us.
