Overview

The internal layout of the In Win 509 is uncommon, not to say unique. Unlike all other tower cases we've reviewed until today, the In Win 509 offers a two-chamber-like approach in the front for cooling. Checking the case from the front up to the rear part we find an internal structure that is completely different from the models we're used to. In Win decided to separate the cooling components from the hardware. Therefore, in the front we find two brackets, that can be equipped with up to three 120 mm and/or two 140 mm fans, while in between the storage units are placed. If you wish to you can equip the 509 with up to five 3.5" HDDs (two of which are placed in the top) and on top of that there is space for three additional 2.5" SSDs. The interior of this case is highly customizable and in case you're planning on using this case for a custom watercooling build, we'd recommend you to remove the HDD cage in the bottom of the case.

The motherboard tray, that features a big cut for the CPU backplate, offers space for E-ATX motherboards. Regarding cable management we find rubber grommets all around the motherboard. Thanks to the immense space available, you can install CPU coolers measuring up to 188mm in size and graphics cards can be up to 370 mm long. For our test we used an ASRock Fatal1ty X99M Killer motherboard with Phanteks PH-TC14PE cooler and a MSI GTX 970 Gaming. As you can see from the pictures the space available is also quite suitable for larger builds.
