Says AMD

Meanwhile the countdown is ticking for the PlayStation 4 hard-launch and now the fight between Sony and Microsoft starts to become really interesting. But today it's AMD, which makes a statement, that PlayStation 4 fanboys will use against Microsoft in the neverending console war.

Announcement coming on 25th of September

According to a report from Digitimes.com, AMD will start shipping the Hawaii GPU to its AIB partners in October, which means that previous rumors regarding the 25th of September event being a "tech-day" rather than an official launch might be actually quite true.

HD 7850 as low as €129

There has already been some talk regarding the price-cuts for AMD Radeon HD 7000 series and it appears that it has finally reached Europe as well, at least in some regions. As you know, Volcanic series will launch in a matter of months so it is no wonder that AMD and its AIB partners want to clear the HD 7000 series stock in order to start fresh with the new Volcanic Series GPUs.

A10-6700T leads the pack

According to a report from Wccftech.com, AMD plans to introduce 45W desktop T-Series Richland based APUs sometime next week. Currently, it is known that AMD will launch two 45W T-Series SKUs, the A10-6700T and the A8-6500T.

Different from one AMD anticipated

In an interview with the German publication c't Magazin, AMD's engineer Laylah Mah noted that the feedback-routine Microsoft used in the final specification of the DirectX 11.2 turned out to be a bit different than the one AMD anticipated and although the incompatibility lies in the driver and not in the hardware, AMD's Radeon HD 7000 series based on the Graphics CoreNext architecture might lack full support for Microsoft DirectX 11.2 API.

Brings some game specific performance improvements

AMD has released the second version of its Catalyst 13.8 Beta drivers that will bring performance improvements in games like Saints Row 4, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and others as well as fix some image quality issues and Crossfire frame-pacing issues in games like Far Cry 3, FC3: Blood Dragon, Sniper Elite, World of Warcraft, Tomb Raider and more.

Will improve quality of games

As you already know, AMD managed to score all three deals for new consoles and while it is clear that Nvidia was left out, recent statements that mobile devices will out-perform the current-gen consoles, that they are financially not worth their time as well as general critical attitude towards the consoles, certainly could not go without AMD's counter-statement saying that they "seem like sour grapes".

Never Settle does its job

According to the latest John Peddie Research report, AMD is definitely live and kicking and even managed to increase its GPU market share up to 21.9 percent last quarter, or 10.9 percent more when compared to the last quarter.

The GPU-less versions of Richland APUs

In addition to entry-level and mainstream APUs currently shipping for socket FM2 platform, AMD also has a couple of CPUs as well that will be pretty much on par with comparable APUs but will lack the GPU part. A couple of such Athlon X2 and X4 CPUs based on Richland core have been spotted in the CPU support list at Asus' website, including Sempron 250, Athlon X2 350 and the Athlon X4 750.

Introduces Gold, Silver and Bronze Radeon Rewards

AMD has released some details regarding its upcoming new Never Settle Forever bundle deal that will be slightly different than what we used to see with previous ones as it introduces new Radeon Rewards and lets users pick the games that they want rather than bundle specific games with certain graphics cards.

Might force Nvidia to make a price cut

According to a report over at Fudzilla.com, AMD's upcoming Hawaii-based graphics card scheduled to be unveiled to a selected members of the press at the "volcanic island" of Hawaii on September 25th, will actually be priced below US $600.

Fourth Tahiti GPU

According to leaked details at VR-Zone that we managed to confirm with our sources, AMD plans to introduce a fourth Tahiti GPU version that should launch sometimes after the Hawaii GPU, the Tahiti XTL.

AMD officially confirms it

Although it was rumored earlier, AMD has now finally confirmed that its next-generation socket FM2+ Kaveri APUs will begin shipping in Q4 2013 but will actually be available in early Q1 2014.

Spot in the sun, for how long?

Like announced yesterday, AMD will host a press event on Hawaii on the 25th of September, where they reveal some details about the upcoming series of graphics cards, with codename Volcanic Island. Today, only one day later, there is a guy in the Chiphell Forums, who claims to have one of the upcoming cards at hand. He even went on to publish the first benchmark results, while testing the card with 3DMark Firestrike Extreme.

New flagship incoming

AMD has set the date and will be flying the selected members of the press to a "volcanic island" of Hawaii on September 25th to unveil its new flagship GPU, the 28nm Hawaii.

For Volcanic and Pirate Islands series

The upcoming AMD Volcanic Islands and Pirate Islands have been filling rumor news posts for quite some time but now 3DCenter.org managed to score some codenames of the GPUs that will be a part of this series.

Now goes against the GTX 780

In order to make the HD 7990 Malta based dual-GPU graphics cards a bit more competitive on the market, AMD's add-in-board (AIB) partners have slashed the price down to US $699 which puts it in direct competition with the Nvidia GTX 780.

Consumer graphics cards coming later

AMD's Hawaii GPU is currently pretty much the only confirmed GPU that will be a part of AMD's upcoming Volcanic Islands series of consumer graphics cards and according to a report from Sweclockers.com, it appears that it will make its debut in AMD's FirePro Professional series graphics cards in September.

To be called Never Settle Forever

During its interview with VR-Zone, AMD's VP of Channel Sales and an ex. Nvidia chap that was the real driving force behind the Nvidia The Way It's Meant To Be Played (TWIMTBP), Roy Taylor, shed some light on the upcoming Never Settle bundle scheduled to launch in August as the Never Settle Forever.

Too nice to be true?

Once more it is Chiphell that publishes an interesting roumor, which, for obvious reasons, should be taken with a grain of salt. It is known, that AMD is working on their 28 naomeer Kaveri APU, which are based on Steamroller architecture and have been postponed to 2014. Meanwhile it looks like there will also be a new high-end CPU that is going to launch alongside Kaveri.
