Intel CFL-S Core i9-9900K will work on Z390 chipset

Alongside with two more SKUs

We have seen lately a lot of speculations about the upcoming Intel Z390 chipset and the eight core processors. Just a few days ago we have published a news about Intel Z390 chipset and today there are more informations available. This time Wccftech has published the names of the CPUs that will be released.

According to Wccftech, Intel will release the 9000 series with the Z390 chipset. The new series will be based on Coffee Lake architecture and will include the Core i9-9900K, Core i7-9700K and Core i5-9600K processors. Each CPU should cover a different segment of the market. While the Core i9-9900K will pack 8 cores and 16 threads, Core i7-9700K will sport 6 cores and 12 threads. Last but not least, the Core i5-9600K will feature 6 cores without HyperThreading.

Following a news from Benchlife, the Z390 chipset would remain the same as the Z370 chipset and manufacturers can add some third party controllers like ASMedia has done for SATA ports in several chipsets. According the latest information, the Intel Z390 (or Z370 refresh) chipset will pack native support for USB 3.1 Gen2. While the current Intel Z370 chipset doesn't come with any support, the new flagship chipset will offer up to six ports.

Furthermore Intel also added support for Wireless-AC 2x2 160MHz and Bluetooth 5. Last but not least, Intel might change the CPU VRM specifications due to the allegedly 8-core processor. In other words, Intel will improve the connection side of the chipset, but several features will be added by manufacturers like Wireless-AC Adapter or RST with RAID.
