GPUs market drops 40% in Q2 2014

Probably because of the mining market

Graphics card market is going through a rough moment. As far as sales are concerned, Q2 2014 has been really slow, and the projections are talking about a drop between 30 and 40% compared to Q1 2014.

There might be different reason to justify this drop, but one of them seems to be the main reason: during the last few months, especially if we talk about high-end AMD graphics card, we've seen a lot of inflation on these cards, due to high demand from the crypto-currency mining market. It's been a couple of weeks since this frenzy has worn off, because those who are really interested in mining, are switching to more efficient platforms, while a lot of them are just leaving the field because BitCoins, and other crypto-currencies, are not so valuable anymore. Then, a lot of the latter started selling their high-end GPUs on the second hand market, with really competitive prices, and a lot of people is deciding not to buy a new GPU instead.

During the next few weeks we might see some unexpected offer on these GPUs, to lure new clients and cut out the second hand market. If you are planning on buy a new GPU, you should be on the look out for this kind of offer.
