Data center revenue grows significantly

It looks like business is going exceptionally well for NVIDIA these days. Within one year the price of one share has gone up five fold. In 2017 the GPU developer was able to generate 2.2 Billion US-Dollar in revenue accounting for a net income of 655 Million US-Dollar.


Compared to the same period during the previous year revenue has gone up by 55% and the income skyrocketed by a massive 216%. Looking at the different business units sales of graphics chips have increased by 85% 1.85 Billion US-Dollar.

Things become really interesting when looking at revenue of the different platforms. In the case of gaming 1.348 Billion US-Dollar were achieved during the fourth fiscal quarter of 2017. Compares to the previous quarter this translates into an 8% growth. During the same period the professional visualization platform has managed to create 225 Million US-Dollar in revenue accounting for a 9% increase. The datacenter platform brought in 296 Million US-Dollar compared to 240 Million US-Dollars during the previous quarter. This is actually NVIDIA’s fastest growing platform, having seen an increase of 23%. The automotive segment remained on almost the same level with 128 Million US-Dollar in revenue during fourth fiscal quarter 2017 compared to 127 Million US-Dollar during the third quarter. The only platforms that’s all the decline were OEM and intellectual property. During the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2017 176 Million US-Dollar were acquired compared to 186 Million US-Dollar in the previous quarter.

For the first fiscal quarter 2018 NVIDIA expects 1.9 Billion US-Dollar in revenue at a gross margin of 59.5%.
