AMD R7 1700X tested on Fire Strike CPU benchmark

Almost as fast as an Intel Core i7-6950X

Another set of benchmarks on AMD’s Ryzen CPUs has hit the surface. This time the benchmarks come from Videocardz and the guys over there have tested what appears to be a 4-core, a 6-core and an 8-core chip. In addition there is also a quick run on the 8-core AMD R7 1700X overclocked to 4.0 GHz.

The new benchmarks are based on Futuremark’s popular 3DMark suite. Our friends over at Videocardz used the FireStrike CPU benchmark routine. Before looking to all these numbers a few things need to be clarified. First of all we don't know which AMD setup has been used and furthermore there aren't even details on the memory speeds. This benchmark can be very sensitive to memory bandwidth and timings.

According to these new results, the 8-core Ryzen CPU overclocked to 4.00 GHz manages to outperform every single other CPU tested, expect the Intel Core i7-6950X which features 10-core. Running the AMD R7 1700X at stock clocks the results are almost on par with the one from a Core i7-6900K. In other words, also this new test confirms what we have seen so far with all the latest rumors.

Furthermore there are two results, which have been gathered with an AMD Ryzen 1600X and AMD Ryzen 1500X. While the first model scores very closely to the Intel Core i7-6850K, the second one is very far away from the Intel Core i7-7700K. According our own CPU Chart, the AMD Ryzen 1500X could be right between the Intel Core i7-6700K and the Intel Core i5-6600K. The AMD Ryzen 1600X is supposed to features 6 cores with 12 threads, while the AMD Ryzen 1500X should be based on 4 cores and 8 threads.

To improve this comparison you can check also our own CPU Chart where you can find several CPUs tested. All the benchmarks have been conducted with the memory set at DDR4-2133 and DDR4-3000 and the CPU clock frequency was fixed to default and 4.2 GHz.
