K|ngp|n is testing the Core i9-7960X on 3DMark Vantage

Soon another record?

A few days ago, Intel has released a new series of HEDT processors. Meanwhile K|ngp|n is testing the new flagship Intel Core i9-7960X on 3DMark Vantage. Thanks to a rather substantial overclock on the CPU as well as very nicely overclocked memory he’s been able to hit more than 126K points regarding the CPU score. We wouldn’t be surprised if rather sooner than later a new record would be incoming from the master of 3DMark benchmarks himself.

In order to achieve this score, K|ngp|n is using an Intel X299 platform in the shape of an EVGA X299 Dark motherboard, an Intel Core i9-7960X processor and G.Skill memory. The CPU has been overclocked to a whopping 5.49 GHz, while the memory was running at a massive 3'732 MHz CL 14-14-14-28. Compared to the stock frequencies that’s a 30% overclock on the CPU.

To make the whole setup run through the benchmark, the CPU has to be cooled using liquid nitrogen. We congratulate Vince “K|ngp|n” Lucido to this awesome new result and we’re hoping to see more soon.
