A few weeks ago, NVIDIA has published its latest set of financials. According to the papers, the results were good with revenues and profits topping the final score. Furthermore, according to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the company did pretty well in the gaming market. However NVIDIA didn't share any data about units and market share, but Jon Peddie Research has just published a report about it.


According to the overview from Jon Peddie Research, North America, Western Europe and Asia Pacific saw growth rates of 5.78%, 6.63% and 9.61% respectively for the high-end GPU segment. A JPR analyst said that the PC platform continues to be very strong for gaming due to the increased graphical detail, improved control, countless accessories and eSport growing. Our friends over at VentureBeat have checked the new JPR report and unveiled some further interesting details about the state of the graphics card market.

According to their analysis, GPU attachment rates were up in Q3 2017 with 39% per cent of all PCs shipping with discrete GPUs, that's up 4.18 per cent. Furthermore the desktop gain is attributed also to cryptocurrency which has been strong during past months. Intel doesn't produce any discrete GPUs but they still saw a small boost in desktop integrate graphics and notebook graphics. AMD registered a small increase compared to the previous quarter and compared to NVIDIA.

AMD shipments of desktop and notebook APUs have increased by 7% and 2% respectively from the previous quarter. Regarding the discrete market, AMD has increased by 16% on discrete GPUs and 5% on notebook discrete GPUs from last quarter. AMD's total PC graphics shipments were 7.6% above the previous quarter. Meanwhile NVIDIA PC graphics shipments increased 29% percent from last quarter.
